Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms, Elisa Ferreira, will participate at the 11th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF11) that will take place from 27 to 30 June 2022 in Katowice, Poland.

Commissioner Ferreira will deliver an online statement on behalf of the EU and its Member States during the opening ceremony, which will start at 10:00 CEST on Monday.
Ahead of the Forum, Commissioner Ferreira said: “Be it improving living standards, transitioning towards a net-zero carbon economy or developing other areas essential for the future of Europeans and of the world, our cities are at the forefront. We support cities in being bold and innovative and in implementing global objectives and structural changes. We want to maximize their contribution to transformative change through the New Urban Agenda.”
As an active partner of WUF11, the Commission organises 14 events to highlight the EU's approach towards integrated sustainable urban development. An updated Global Human Settlement Layer will be launched on this occasion, mapping urban areas and populations at unprecedented levels, along with the 2022 edition of the European Handbook for SDG Voluntary Local Reviews, that helps policymakers to monitor progress on the Sustainable Development Goals.
