Promoting research and innovation in blue economy sectors, to adapt to sustainable seafood production/consumption and to improve sea basin governance is essential to achieving the objectives of the European Green Deal.

On 4 February 2022, the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region (EUSAIR) will present the state of play on implementing these objectives within Pillar 1, Blue Growth, to the SEArica Integroup of the European Parliament.
SEArica, stands for Seas, Rivers and Coastal Areas, follows on from the Seas and Coastal Areas Intergroup launched in 2010 and unites 107 MEPs from 23 different Member States and 6 political groups.
This information session will stimulate debates and promote actions in support of a comprehensive approach to a sustainable blue economy. The opening speech will be given by SEArica chair and MEP Tonino Picula, with keynote speeches from DG REGIO (Head of Unit Jean-Pierre Halkin) and DG MARE (Head of Unit Christos Economou).
Everyone is welcome to join the session from 11-13 o’clock to learn, contribute and create synergize.
