Commissioner Ferreira visits Greece to discuss recovery and reforms

Elisa Ferreira, commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms, will visit Greece from 29 September to 1 October to discuss Cohesion policy’s Partnership Agreements (PA) 2021-2027 and the energy transition with several members of the Government as well as stakeholders.

She will meet the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and key Ministers for the implementation of the PA: the Minister for Development, responsible for the Cohesion policy, the Minister for Infrastructure and the Minister for Civil protection. These high-level meetings will be the opportunity to discuss the priorities for the next funding period and the necessary reforms. Greece is the first country in the EU to have submitted its Partnership Agreement to the Commission and have it approved. Moreover, the Commissioner will address the General Assembly of the Industrial Association of Central Greece and will travel to Western Macedonia to meet the regional governor, the mayors of the energy municipalities and other stakeholders. She will also visit a lignite mining area to discuss the just transition of the area towards a more sustainable economy, and will meet young people of the region in a municipal library whose construction has been co-financed by the EU.
