Highlights

You can now take part in shaping the next EU long-term 2028-2034 budget

The Commission initial proposal for the next EU long-term budget is now available. The long-term budget - known as the Multiannual Financial Framework – sets out the EU’s spending priorities for several years. The Commission is now inviting all Europeans to have their say on the next budget and the policies it should support, ahead of presenting a formal proposal in July 2025.

‘Living Without Leaving?’ an art competition exploring the perspective of young artists from from Croatia, Greece, Italy, Slovenia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, San Marino, Serbia on the right to stay. Deadline for submission of artworks 15 March 2025.

Lifesaving role of the PIROI Centre in Réunion Island during Cyclones Freddy and Chido

Cohesion policy funds support countless initiatives to enhance regional resilience. One notable is the PIROI (Indian Ocean Regional Intervention Platform) Centre which was supported by EUR 2,1 million under the Interreg Indian Ocean 2014-2020 cooperation programme. The project played a vital role in supporting recovery efforts following Cyclones Freddy and Chido.

Cohesion Policy project deploys artificial intelligence to anticipate and mitigate flood risks

AI4Flood pro uses artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to enhance flood risk prediction and management, a crucial tool to prevent disasters like the recent severe floods in the Pyrenees and more broadly and dramatically in Valencia.

Involvement of citizens in the implementation of a cross-border territorial strategy

EsCaT (Cross-border Functional Catalan space) is one of the integrated territorial strategies adopted under the Interreg Spain-France-Andorra (POCTEFA) and it is built upon the existing Catalan functional and cultural area, with a strong accent on participatory approaches to territorial development. From the design of the common strategy, the definition of calls for projects to the selection of applications, citizens are fully involved in a genuine and committed co-creation policy process.

The Handbook offers a comprehensive overview on how to establish and manage energy initiatives that span national borders within the European Union. It is aimed at empowering local actors, policymakers, and stakeholders to navigate the legal, technical, and administrative challenges unique to CBECs, while emphasizing their contribution to the EU's energy transition and cohesion objectives.
