European Commission invests €180 million in research projects

The European Commission recently signed grant agreements with 27 research infrastructures projects. These projects are from calls for proposals for funding in 2022 and were selected following a rigorous evaluation process. The projects will contribute to fostering ground-breaking innovation in Europe.

Find inspiration in the first Research Infrastructures projects

The first projects to be selected for funding under Horizon Europe - Research Infrastructures are up and running. The projects were selected from a 2021 call for proposals and will research how to achieve the goals of the EU Cancer Mission, using Artificial Intelligence for the European Open Science Cloud, and ensuring data are shared for pandemic-preparedness. Swedish Presidency prioritises research infrastructures and their role in fostering excellence science

Building on the work of the Czech Presidency, the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the EU will prioritise research infrastructures. According to the Swedish Presidency Programme, research infrastructures ‘contribute to research quality and social benefit’. This is why the Presidency will highlight the ‘importance of measures that increase access to research infrastructures, and to their data and services, for researchers, businesses and society at large’.

Largest public consultation on EU research policy launched

A public consultation has been launched on the past, present and future of the EU’s research programmes. Stakeholders can provide input on the performance of Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe, as well as identify priorities for the Horizon Europe Strategic Plan 2025-2027. The survey is available in English, French, and German; answers can be provided in any EU language. Fill it out below!

Events
How Research Infrastructures Provide New Opportunities and Benefits for Society

The Swedish Presidency of the Council of the EU is organising an event on how open research data can potentially solve societal challenges, with a focus on the specific role research infrastructures can play. The event will take place on 19 – 20 June 2023 in Lund, Sweden. It will also include study visits to the MAX IV Laboratory and the European Spallation Source.
