Regional Cooperation Neighbourhood South

After five years and half of implementation, the project Sharaka, which means “partnership” in Arabic, ended on 31 January 2023. This regional project implemented by INTERPOL has contributed to the fight against terrorism and organised crime by connecting frontline agencies at airports, seaports and national borders to the INTERPOL’s secure global police communications network (I-24/7). The project has also provided capacity building and supported cross-border police operations.

The launch of this project represents an important step forward in the fields of hydrogen (and derivatives) development, massive renewables’ deployment and wide awareness raising on necessary “behavioural change” towards resource efficiency.

The training aimed to address the challenges of cooperation in the Mediterranean region and to develop proposals under the new Euro-Mediterranean funding instruments. EBSOMED project aims to increase the overall capacity management of Business Support Organisations (BSOs) in the Euro-Mediterranean region by improving the services offered to SMEs.

This innovative online tool part of the Trade and Investment Facilitation Mechanism (TIFM II) provides information for enhancing regional trade integration and a Help Centre supported by a network across the region.

The NIP contribution agreement contributes to boosting the energy efficiency in the building sector and complements existing EU-funded regional project MEETMED II aiming at promoting energy efficiency in buildings and appliances.

The committee recommended to consolidate and disseminate the acquis of the Programme during the coming months. MED MSMEs Programme aims at fostering the policy dialogue organised around some crucial areas for MED MSMEs, including inclusive and sustainable growth, regulatory and institutional environment, access to finance and digitalisation.

The December Tabadool Monthly Brief touches upon inspiring practices regarding policies and regulations affecting MSMEs business environment.

The event was a unique venue to address relevant topics for MED MSMEs, such as policies and strategies, digitalization, green transition and gender, and they were presented and discussed with stakeholders from South Med countries.

CEPOL has published a new video about the regional programme “Euromed Police”. Euromed Police aims at enhancing the capacity of the Southern Partner Countries (SPC) to fight serious and organised crime and to strengthen strategic cooperation between national law enforcement authorities in SPCs, as well as between SPCs, EU Member States and EU agencies.

Potential priority sectors for METI’s ( Mainstreaming Employment into Trade and Investment) forthcoming value chain analysis were discussed and consensus to focus on “engineering products and services” was reached.

The second phase of the project aims to further boost communication and awareness-raising activities through multiple tools that aim to promote multi-stakeholder dialogues, empower local authorities and engage citizens.

The 4th Steering Committee of the project brought together different actors and endorsed its activities as conductive towards increased efforts to protect the environment of the Mediterranean.

The workshop aimed to introduce different Jordanian state representatives to the online portal Euromed Trade Helpdesk that provides key insights about trade opportunities.
