"Water-sensitive city", a unique project led by the Ramat Gan Municipality with the support of the European Union and in partnership with Adam Teva VeDin, Shenkar and Bar Ilan University, is putting for the first time the climate crisis as a top priority for the city.

Clima-Med's short film, "A Glimpse of Hope", is centred around inspiring stories of its inhabitants and local actors, their actions, and solutions to fight for a more sustainable future. It also shows the engagement of the EU in the region in the Green Deal Agenda on Climate Action framework.

Eurostat and directors general of national statistical institutes from nine Southern Neighbourhood countries met in Frankfurt on 5-6 July 2022 to discuss statistical cooperation.

On 23 June 2022, the OECD organised a public-private dialogue (PPD) on “Promoting investment and business climate reforms in Jordan’s ICT sector” jointly with the Ministry of the Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Ministry of Investment, ICT Association of Jordan (Int@j), and the Jordan Strategy Forum.

The June 2022 SBA Coordination event organized at the UfM event was well received by the Programme’s social media followers (175.546 Total impressions and 6.685 Total engagement) as well as the articles in the traditional media (4 articles).

The MED MSMEs Programme is working on the design and operationalisation of a sustainable platform allowing members of the EU and South Med Community of Practice (CoP) to exchange experiences and inspiring practices related to MSME policies and regulations.

The MED MSMEs Programme produced two videos that were displayed at the SBAC coordination event organized at the UfM on 23/24 June 2022.

Assessing the Job Creation Potential of the Social Economy in the MENA Region is the new Policy Study coordinated by Philippe Adair, Emeritus Professor at ERUDITE, University Paris-Est Créteil. It counts with contributions from Vladimir Hlasny, Economic Affairs Officer at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia, Kareem Sharabi Rosshandler, Lead researcher at the Economic Growth Pillar department in the West Asia-North Africa Institute; and Mariem Omrani, Data Analyst at UNICEF MENA Regional Office.

On 8 June, EuroMeSCo kicked off the cycle of five events of the EuroMeSCo Annual Conference with the first country event in Rabat, co-organised with the Policy Center for the New South. It was an opportunity to discuss ways to improve the inclusion of young and women in Morocco and in the broader Mediterranean region.

Coordinated by Kristina Kausch, Resident Fellow at the German Marshall Fund of the United States, with contributions from Aitor Bonsoms, PhD candidate at the Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals (IBEI); Can Kasapoglu, Director of Security and Defense Program EDAMN and non-Resident Fellow in Euro-Asian Military Affairs, Jamestown Foundation; Lewin Schmitt, PhD candidate at the Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals (IBEI); and Žilvinas Švedkauskas, PhD candidate at the Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen. this Policy Study aims to examine these questions and dilemmas raised by AI in the MENA through a European policy lens paying particular attention to border management, surveillance, defence and regulation.
