The 2019 Excellence in Road Safety Awards winners

This year’s six winners honour people and organisations who are dedicated to making Europe’s roads safer, with initiatives that range from high-tech solutions to practical training. The heroes include teachers in a Romanian school who dedicate their time to teaching children about road safety and a community organisation in a Belgian town.

Project EDWARD 2019: 11 countries record a fatality-free day

Fifty-two people were killed on the EU’s roads on September 26, this year’s European Day Without a Road Death (Project EDWARD). Although still far above the aim of zero fatalities, it is significantly better than the average of 70 deaths a day in the EU. Eleven countries achieved zero road deaths.
