MakeEUBlue Awards 2023: Call for nominations!

The EU4Ocean coalition on ocean literacy, supported by the European Commission (EC), is now nearly three years old. In continuation of its #MakeEUBlue campaign, the EU4Ocean is organising a yearly contest – the MakeEUBlue Awards - celebrating progress in ocean literacy in Europe.

EU Mission ‘Restore our Ocean and Waters’: over 400 pledges, 20 new projects and 4 lighthouses to restore our blue planet by 2030

The EU Mission ‘Restore our Ocean and Waters’ is going at full sail. Since its launch in September 2021, it has put in place 4 lighthouses in major basins, selected 38 multinational projects for funding and counts with over 400 pledges in support of restoring our blue planet.

Implementing EU legislation on marine litter

The Single Use Plastics Directive and Port Reception Facilities Directive of 2019 made producers and importers responsible for transport and disposal of end-of-life fishing gear and removed financial penalties for bringing waste to shore, including litter picked up in fishing nets. They also introduced new reporting obligations. The aim of the conference was to allow stakeholders to share experience and ideas.

EMODnet endorsed as a UN Ocean Decade Implementing Partner

We are proud to announce the official endorsement of EMODnet as a new Decade Implementing Partner of the Ocean Decade in March 2023. As an Implementing Partner, EMODnet will enhance its contributions to Global Ocean Marine Data activities and consolidate its engagement and commitment to the Ocean Decade.

Register until 19 May! - European Maritime Day 2023

This year the conference will take place in Brest (France) on 24 and 25 May 2023. Up to 1 500 participants will be able to attend in person and take part in the EMD’s 24 stimulating interactive workshops, the numerous pitch stage sessions and many networking opportunities. The opening and first high-level sessions will be available for those wanting to join remotely.
