Welcome to the 10th Edition of the CoP-Cities Newsletter.

It has been a very busy two months on cities matter, with events occurring across the board; and while the recent COP 26 in Glasgow was not specifically targeted at cities, its emphasis on multilevel and cooperative action made it clear that it is in cities that nationally determined emissions-cutting contributions will concretise.

We have also been busy preparing our next round of policy briefs that will be released in early Spring. To help us steer the activities of the CoP on cities for the following months, we invite you to fill out our survey in the next section.

We hope you will appreciate this last edition of our newsletter for the year 2021 and we wish you a productive last few weeks of work and a relaxing and revitalising end-of-year break.

As usual, keep in mind that this is a bi-monthly publication, with a new edition foreseen for the end of January 2022. For any feedback on this edition, or contributions to the following one, including highlights of your current work, upcoming publications, or events, please let us know at jrc-kctp@ec.europa.eu.

Highlights
The CoP on Cities needs your help!

Our 2019 report on the Future of Cities was a success and now that we start recovering from the COVID pandemic - unexpected when the report was written - we would like to identify the most pertinent and relevant topics for our next round of policy briefs.

Policy briefs are short documents (6-8 pages) that make use of data, case studies and past experience to help informing policy makers of upcoming issues. You can find examples of our previous briefs here.

Three new policy briefs will be launched early next year, and include: Shrinking cities, Cities fit for the digital age and Urban-peripheral relationships.

Help us choosing the best topics for the next briefs: fill our survey.

Results from this survey will be circulated in our next newsletter published in January 2022.
