Better Legislation for Smoother Implementation

In this month’s BLSI Newsletter, we are thrilled to share with you five upcoming events along with highlights of the LEOS team's achievements in 2022, and a glimpse of their future plans.

On the 24^th of May, we will be hosting our own BLSI virtual breakfast which will focus on law as code. In addition, DIGIT and KNIME will be joining forces to host a two-day data analytics event in Brussels on the 3rd and 4th of May. GovTech Leaders 2023 will also take place on the 9th of May, specifically for public-sector-innovation enthusiasts located in Vilnius.

On the 25^th of May, the ENISA Cybersecurity Certification Conference will be held both in Athens and virtually, with the aim of promoting the effective implementation of the EU cybersecurity legislation. Lastly, on the 1st of June, the DIGITALEUROPE Summer Summit 2023 will provide insights into the regulatory sandbox on the AI Act.

This May, our team will delve into the concept of Law as Code, focusing on its links to interoperability, digital-ready policymaking and semantics. Some pilot use cases will be presented and there will be opportunities to interact and exchange ideas on the challenges and benefits of Law as Code.

Discover the 2022 achievements of the LEOS team! Over the course of the past year, the team: intensified its efforts in collaborating with Member States and piloting LEOS in the Commission; finalised the reporting on a study exploring the use of AI in drafting legislation; and migrated LEOS to a code development platform for open-source projects.
