What's new?
New year, New era
Dear BLSI community,

Even if the first month of 2023 is coming to an end, we would like to wish our community members a happy and prosperous new year! In 2023, our Legal Interoperability Team will continue to organise events with eminent speakers and promote knowledge on building digital-ready policies. Furthermore, we encourage you to interact with the existing material or share your content / events in our BLSI JoinUp space!

With the adoption of the Interoperable Europe Act proposal at the end of last year, we are now envisioning how to make EU legislation fully digital-ready and interoperable-by-design, thus also reinforcing the interoperability of the public sector in the EU. As we have mentioned in our December Newsletter, you might wish to consult our ‘Why is the Interoperable Europe Act proposal important for digital-ready policymaking and our community? article in order to discover the key elements of the proposal.

If you are still eager to learn more, do not miss the chance to register for our February BLSI virtual breakfast! In this webinar, which is the first of a series, we will explore together the implications and opportunities that arise from the Interoperable Europe Act proposal, as applied to our community. Together with our panellists, we will discuss the proposal’s main elements, focusing mainly on the Interoperable Europe Portal (Joinup) and the (legal) interoperability trainings.

On the regulatory reporting side, we are excited to announce the publication of the ‘Case study analysis of the use of emerging technologies for regulatory reporting’. This study highlights the ways in which emerging, as well as more traditional, technologies, can streamline the reporting process and thus reduce the administrative burden of SMEs at both the national and European levels. This is thus a must-read for anyone looking to stay ahead of the curve and leverage the full potential of technologies in regulatory reporting.

Our team would also like to make you aware of some prominent events that are taking place in February and March! Firstly, SEMIC community will hold some webinars about the DCAT Application Profile and the tooling for data spaces life cycle in early February. We also like to invite you to attend some hybrid events on open-source and policy such as the Open Forum Europe, the FOSDEM, and The State of Open Cons 2023. In March, you could join the Masters of Digital 2023 event organised by DIGITALEUROPE; this year’s theme is: “A resilient digital Europe in times of crisis”. Finally, the ENDORSE 2023 event on the power of multilingual reference data is also taking place around the same date.

In the meantime, please feel free to join our open discussions - Share your needs or ideas with the BLSI Community! or What are your learning needs?' - and share your insights, findings, and events in the BLSI JoinUp space!

If you have not already done so, please become a member of our community and follow our step-by-step guide on how to contribute in the community space!

Stay tuned for our upcoming webinar and future news!

Kind regards,

The Legal Interoperability Team

Case study analysis of the use of emerging technologies for regulatory reporting

Report on the use of new technologies in regulatory reporting

Through its case-study approach, the report reflects the knowledge and experiences of public and private sector organisations, including the main challenges and needs associated with the regulatory reporting process. Based on this information, the report provides a set of recommendations that policy, legal and IT experts working in the field of regulatory reporting in public administrations can follow to successfully integrate technologies into their regulatory reporting process so as to further streamline and simplify it.
