We are happy to announce that the Council and the European Parliament reached a provisional agreement on our Commission proposal for an Interoperable Europe Act. As a result, both institutions can give their final approval of the legal text and make an important step towards completing the Digital Single Market.
The Act will enhance the cross-border interoperability of trans-European digital public services and lay down measures to fundamentally accelerate the digital transformation of Europe's public sector.
As a result, administrative burdens will be removed, including legal, organisational, semantic and technical obstacles, and the seamless delivery of digital public services will be enhanced across borders. Time and costs for citizens, businesses and administrations will be saved, while interactions between citizens and businesses with the public sector will be improved.
The agreement has been reached within less than one year after the initiation of the Commission proposal. We express our gratitude to all of our partners and stakeholders for their tremendous support.
