Dear reader,

Have you submitted your open source project or initiative for the OSOR Awards? If not, hurry up! The deadline is 21 September, and time is ticking.

We are looking for open-source solutions and initiatives that use open source and benefit society and public services provided by administrations at different levels - local, regional, national, and cross-border.

Solution or Initiative?

You may wonder what the difference is between solutions and initiatives. Here is our understanding:

Solutions are technical projects, products, and services developed by or for public sector organisations.

Initiatives include a broad range of activities and projects that use open source. For example, such could be migrations from proprietary systems to ones based on open source, the creation of Open Source Programme Offices or hackathons, civic tech hackerspaces, platforms for participatory democracy, awards, grassroots initiatives, events, and other actions that support open technologies for the public good.

Who can apply?

  • Public administrations, such as national-level ministries and agencies, regions, and cities.
  • Public services, such as schools, universities, hospitals, transport, environment, urban planning, or energy services.
  • Companies providing open technologies for the above-mentioned organisations.
  • NGOs, not-for-profits, and other third sector organisations (voluntary, civic, or social sector).
  • Open source communities and projects.

Deadline

The call for submissions will close on Thursday, 21 September, at midnight Brussels time.

Representatives of the top 6 selected projects will be invited to present their achievements at the Conference celebrating OSOR’s 15th anniversary on 21 November. Travel and accommodation will be organised and covered by the European Commission.

For more information about the OSOR Awards, eligibility criteria, and the selection process, please check the Awards page and Procedure Guide.

Submit your solution or initiative today!
