Drupal 9

Drupal 8 site deployments - deadline extended to 19 January

Following multiple requests from business owners, the deadline to perform Drupal 8 site deployments in the Drupal hosting pipeline is extended to 19 January 2022. As of 20 January Drupal 8 sites can stay live for a few months but no new deployments will be possible. Therefore, Drupal 8 sites should upgrade to Drupal 9 as soon as possible before that date.

Drupal 9 compatible OpenEuropa components

Check the list of OpenEuropa components that have a Drupal 9 compatible version. You are welcome to report any issues when using them on your project.

Service procedures and guidelines

End of support for deployments using PHP 7.3

The Drupal hosting service will start blocking by default any project in the pipeline that uses PHP 7.3 or lower version as of 15 December 2021 to raise awareness of the need to update to PHP 7.4 or newer. This will be a soft block with the possibility to bypass by inserting a commit message.

As of 15 February 2022, there will be no possibility to bypass anymore. Therefore, projects need to update to PHP 7.4 in advance to continue deploying in the Drupal pipeline after that date.

This is the newsletter of the Europa IT platform services managed by DG DIGIT.D1. It provides technical information to professionals involved in the creation and/or management of public information websites hosted under the europa.eu domain, in particular, those websites using the Europa Web Publishing Platform or Open Europa (based on Drupal technology) and related Webtools services.

The information on this newsletter does not require any action from owners of sites built with the Europa Web Publishing Platform. As product owner, DG COMM will contact those site owners for action when necessary.
