EESSI 2020 RINA HF6 (RINA Server v6.2.12, RINA Portal v6.2.12) and Data Migration Tool v2.1.8 release

The Central EESSI Team publishes a hotfix for the EESSI 2020 RINA Release to address issues raised by Participating Countries. This release includes also the new releases of the RINA BMI-WS (v6.2.12) and the Data Migration Tool (DMT v2.1.8).

How to access the EESSI 2020 RINA HF6 release and the Data Migration Tool v2.1.8

The EESSI 2020 RINA HF6 (RINA Server v6.2.12, RINA Portal v6.2.12) release package contains the new RINA software version, together with the Release Note and relevant documentation. A new version of RINA BMI-WS v6.2.12 is also included in the release package.

The new release package related to Data Migration Tool v2.1.8 contains the new Data Migration Tool (DMT) Kit and Source Code, together with the new updated versions of the EESSI 2020 RINA Operations Data Migration Guidelines and ES Data Migration Tool v2.1.8 manual.

These packages can be also downloaded from FTP Server, only by EESSI SPOC and Access Point SPOC designated persons. The EESSI Central Service Desk (EMPL-EESSI-SERVICE-DESK@ec.europa.eu) can provide these persons with the FTP access credentials upon request.

The Participating Countries have the possibility to download the RINA Server v6.2.12, RINA Portal v6.2.12 and the DMT v2.1.8 Source Code only directly from a dedicated GIT repository following the procedure described in the dedicated page, EESSI RINA External GIT Access Request procedure.

The RINA software and the DMT v2.1.8 are distributed under the European Union Public License (EUPL) 1.2. The licensing information can be also found inside the RINA kit, RINA BMI-WS kit and DMT v2.1.8 kit.

 

EESSI 2020 HF6 (RINA Server v6.2.12, RINA Portal v6.2.12) Release Scope

The EESSI 2020 RINA HF6 (RINA Server v6.2.12 and RINA Portal v6.2.12) corrective release addresses issues identified by the Participating Countries. A comprehensive list of fixed issues is available in the dedicated Release Note.

Data Migration Tool v2.1.8 software release is the version that must be used on a target destination machine with the currently released, RINA version 6.2.12.  The list of improvements and fixes is available in the Change Log published inside the zip file also containing the Data Migration Tool v2.1.8 kit. The new DMT version must not be used with older versions of the RINA 2020 release.

 

Hotfix Release deployment path

The EESSI 2020 RINA HF6 Release provides installation scripts (as part of the kit) for the following platform configurations:

RINA fresh installation (both Windows and Ubuntu):

  1. RINA full-stack
  2. RINA BMI-WS

NB! In order to perform RINA platform migration from the EESSI 2019 RINA version to the EESSI 2020 RINA version, the migration procedure requires in this situation a mandatory RINA v5.6.4 or a higher version already installed on the source system(s) of RINA (EESSI 2019).

The new released DMT v2.1.8 must be used  to migrate the data from EESSI 2019 RINA  to RINA v6.2.12.When running the tool to migrate the data from RINA 2019, it is mandatory to have installed the existing EESSI 2019 RINA instance and the targeted EESSI 2020 RINA instance on different machines. 

RINA upgrade installation (both Windows and Ubuntu):

  1. RINA full-stack
  2. RINA BMI-WS

NB! The current upgrade path related to EESSI 2020 RINA HF6 (RINA Server v6.2.12/RINA Portal v6.2.12) requires a mandatory EESSI 2020 RINA HF4 (RINA Server v6.2.6 / RINA Portal v6.2.6) or higher version already installed and functional on the target system(s).

NB! For the upgrade of RINA BMI-WS only, the mandatory EESSI 2020 version is v6.2.3 to be already installed and functional on the target system(s).

Other upgrade  paths are out of scope of this release and are not supported.

 

Important Notes !

Regarding the current EESSI 2020 RINA HF6 v6.2.12 release, the provided fixes do not affect the already migrated cases (in the situation where the migration procedure has already been performed correctly before, by using the previous released version,  RINA v6.2.6). 

This new version of the DMT also fixes several issues identified by the Participating Countries (e.g.: issues mentioned in EESSI-9390 and EESSI-9446). For those institutions where the data migration to RINA 2020 has already been performed using DMT v2.1.6, in order to fix the issues, two dedicated scripts have been published in the dedicated Knowledge Base articles in Confluence, KB 042 and KB 043.

EESSI 2020 RINA HF6 (v6.2.12) is a cumulative patch that includes everything released in EESSI 2020 RINA HF1, HF4 and HF5 and therefore makes them redundant.

 

RINA Hotfix Release artefacts

The following artefacts are delivered as part of the Hotfix release:

  1. RINA Server v6.2.12 and RINA Portal 6.2.12 kit and Source Code;
  2. RINA BMI-WS kit;
  3. Deployment Documentation;
  4. Operations Documentation;
  5. Test Report
  6. Performance Test Report – will be delivered until September 17.

 

Important Note !

The Participating Countries test coordinators are requested to report the deployment status, including data migration status and readiness, on a weekly basis to the BIG team.
