EU Commission proposes revamped rules for capital market prospectuses
The European Commission is today proposing improved rules for capital market prospectuses, as part of its ongoing push to create a Capital Markets Union. The proposed rules will enable investors to make informed investment decisions and foster cross-border investments.

A prospectus is a legal document that describes the company, its main line of business, its finances and shareholding structure. In short, a prospectus must contain all information an investor needs to have before making a decision whether to invest in the company. Having harmonised rules in the European Union is essential for cross-border investments in the Capital Markets Union.
