Event Invitation
SAVE THE DATE for the ETIP SNET & BRIDGE Key results and steps forward networking event!

The European Technology & Innovation Platforms (ETIP) for Smart Networks for Energy Transition (SNET) stakeholders and BRIDGE projects’ communities are firmly committed to contributing to the energy transition and are delighted to invite you to their “ETIP SNET and BRIDGE – Key results and steps forward” that will take place in Brussels on the 20 June 2023 at the Royal Library of Belgium (KBR) located in Mont des Arts 28, Brussels 1000 from 18:00 onwards.

Smart grids are at the forefront of the energy transition, allowing the effective and efficient integration of renewable energy sources into the power grid. By leveraging cutting-edge digital technologies, smart grids can manage the flow of electricity and information between power generators, consumers/prosumers, providers of services (such as aggregation or energy storage) and the grid itself. This results in a more sustainable and resilient energy system, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, enabling the adoption of electric vehicles and smart homes, and contributing to lower consumer bills.

Smart grids are a key enabler of the transition to a cleaner and more decentralised energy future.

The event will take place on the evening of the first day of the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW). Participants will be welcomed with an aperitif at 18.00, and by 18:30, a presentation and panel discussion will be held until 20:00 and followed by a networking walking dinner. Moreover, you will have the unique opportunity to meet the BRIDGE projects responsible in the “EU BRIDGE Projects Corner” to exchange ideas, discover projects’ results and establish new synergies.

This event aims to showcase the progress and achievements made by the ETIP SNET and BRIDGE initiatives in the last three years and to trace the path forward to accelerating the EU’s energy transition while contributing to the general policy setting of the European Commission.

The event will be exclusively in person. Registration is required to participate.

Event flow

The event will be opened by DG ENER and CINEA keynote speeches.

DG ENER will give an insight into how the European Commission works with the ETIP SNET and BRIDGE stakeholders to unleash the potential of smart grids in the energy transition. It will focus on the initiatives’ strategic impact on the research and innovation agenda - also in view of the new SET Plan framework and strategy – on their feedback to policy-making and on the tools necessary to achieve the energy transition in terms of solutions’ roll-out.

CINEA will outline how BRIDGE projects and their Key Exploitable Results (KERs) can accelerate the energy transition also through the integration of renewable energy sources, improving energy efficiency and enhancing the flexibility and resilience of the grid.

Following the keynote speeches, the ETIP SNET Chair will present the activities carried out and the results achieved by the ETIP SNET and BRIDGE within the outlined framework.

This presentation will be followed by a Panel involving two speakers from the ETIP SNET working groups and two from the BRIDGE working groups. The panellists will delve into some of the concrete activities performed and results achieved as an instance of the crucial role the two EC initiatives play in addressing the challenges and opportunities of the energy transition and contributing to charting the way forward.

After the panel discussion, the ETIP SNET Vice Chair will summarise the key takeaways from the panel discussion and the next strategic actions identified to progress towards the energy transition and support the EC.

Do not forget to register to secure your attendance (places are limited)!
