From waste to workspace: Supplying reused and refurbished furniture - Niort City Hall, France
|
When Niort City Hall decided in 2022 to replace the obsolete furniture of 350 workstations over a period of 6 to 7 years, it was determined to take a circular approach. The municipality decided to procure refurbished furniture, made from the municipality’s own obsolete furniture. The approach that Niort City Hall took goes beyond the requirements set out in France’s landmark Anti-waste and Circular Economy Law to procure furniture that incorporates reused, upcycled, or recycled materials. 58% of the furniture that the City of Niort procures comes from reuse or upcycling.

It also mentions the different stages and operations, giving examples of what the regulatory framework looks like and how some municipalities have included it in their tenders.
