Peru to deposit its accession to five WIPO treaties

During the last assembly of the Member States of the WIPO, the president of INDECOPI announced that Peru is willing to advance regarding intellectual property matters to fight against piracy. Thus, Peru will deposit its accession to five treaties that are administered by WIPO, including the Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement. The Lisbon Agreement, and its latest revision, the Geneva Act of 2015, provide for the international protection of appellations of origin and geographical indications through a single procedure with WIPO.

INAPI updates patent examination guidelines in Chile

INAPI has provided users with two documents updating information on the guidelines of patents, utility models and designs, taking into account the recent entry into force of Law 21.355 that modified the industrial property system in Chile. One of the most relevant changes is that the new guidelines are divided into two: one oriented to the examination of patent applications for inventions and utility models, and the second dedicated exclusively to industrial designs and drawings.
