Intellectual Property in Latin America
Register and protect your Intellectual Property in Brazil

How do I protect my trade mark? What are the steps to register a patent? Can I extend the protection of my EU trade mark, design, or patent to Brazil? Do I need to register my copyright to obtain protection in Brazil? These are some of the most recurrent questions we receive at our Helpline service. However, if you do not know where to start, check out our latest post featuring some of our materials about IP in Brazil.

Healthcare Sector in Latin America

The Latin American healthcare market is growing in the pharmaceutical industry, which can be seen through the increase in medical equipment, devices and consumables. Out of the top 10 emerging markets, 4 are in Latin America. In 2019, the region was seen as an emerging market due to the growth of the middle class, as well as the positive demographic trends and the self-paid nature of primary healthcare. In order to make the most out of the business opportunities in the region, foreign entrepreneurs need to identify and look into the unmet needs of the region, creating products and services that will provide an added value to the healthcare market.

IP in the Renewable Energy Sector

Renewable energies have experienced an important boost during the last decade and both private companies and public bodies have dramatically increased their investments. Latin America has not been an exception to these trends and has now become a very attractive market in which to develop RE (renewable energy)-related businesses. However, energy markets in Latin America tend to be highly regulated and vary significantly from country to country. Therefore, if you are planning to enter a RE market, you should take into account the legal framework applicable to this specific sector for each territory.
