INAPI Chile founds the Latin American Network of IP and Gender together with Colombia, Costa Rica and Peru

INAPI Chile, SIC Colombia, INDECOPI Peru, the National Registry of Costa Rica and the National Institute for the Defense of Competition, have all formalised a Memorandum of Understanding for the foundation of the Red Latinoamericana de PI y Género (Latin American Network of IP and Gender). The main aim of this new network is to create environments in which to exchange experiences and reflect on strategies and tools to enhance the role of women in intellectual property (IP), and in innovation in general.

Recent changes in non-traditional trade mark registration requirements in Colombia

A non-traditional trade mark can be described as a type of distinctive sign that is not limited to its visual perception and that does not fall within the old-style categories of trade marks such as nominative or figurative. Considering the growing importance of this type of dynamic and innovative signs, the Colombian Trade Mark Office felt the need to update certain aspects regarding registration requirements.
