European Commission kick-starts new environment projects with nearly €120 million in EU funding
The European Commission has awarded grants to 28 new environment, climate action and circular economy projects as part of its Horizon 2020 programme. These projects were selected from among 141 proposals which had been submitted by 8 March 2016 in reply to three calls for proposals (one-stage call topics).

Financing SME Eco-innovation
"Grow circular!" was the theme of the 20th Eco-innovation Forum that took place in Tallinn (Estonia), between 26 and 28 October 2016. It examined financing opportunities for eco-innovative SMEs and showcased companies that succeeded in attracting investors. Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises organised a business-to-investors matchmaking event. Most promising eco-innovation companies met 'cleantech' investors in more than 100 bilateral meetings.

How to address the new global challenges on Earth observation?
Several EU-funded Earth observation projects joined discussions on global Earth observation initiatives at the GEO-XIII plenary on 7-10 November in St. Petersburg. The European Commission is showcasing how it provides support for the implementation of the Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS) through the Copernicus Programme and the Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (Horizon 2020).
