Every year the European Commission publishes the list of experts that evaluated SME Instrument proposals the year before. In 2017 way over a thousand experts evaluated and selected the best proposals to be funded.

New this year, the Innovation category of the EU Sustainable Energy Awards recognises outstanding EU-funded initiatives in energy efficiency and the use of renewables. Part of the EU Sustainable Energy Week, the competition also features three additional categories: Engagement, Leadership and Youth. Call for applications is open for 3 more days (until 11 February). The European Innovation Council (EIC) pilot and Equinor partnered for a business acceleration event in Oslo, Norway. 23 companies had the chance to pitch their technology and engage in in-depth discussions with corporate representatives and investors.

On 11 December, Veolia met with 14 SMEs backed by the European Innovation Council (EIC) pilot for a pitching and matchmaking event at its headquarters in Paris. The companies shared their solutions to transforming business with Veolia representatives.
