Vision-Box works on a smartphone token for faster ID controls in airports

Portuguese company Vision-Box is working on a technology that allows travellers to store multiple ID documents (such as passport, citizen ID card, membership cards) in a smartphone which can then be used to permit hands-free authentication at authorised touch points. Kunak’s air quality monitors to be installed in stadiums around the world

Air pollution is a silent killer that is estimated to cause 400.000 premature deaths in Europe every year. Some people are more at risk, like city dwellers, children... and atheletes. Athletes breathe in more air during training and competition and therefore their pollution intake is also higher, which in turn has an impact on their health and performance. At Olympic games when milliseconds sometimes determine scores air pollution can make a difference on the podium. 2223 small businesses seek funding under the EIC SME Instrument

The European Commission received 2223 proposals for the European Innovation Council (EIC) pilot‘s SME Instrument Phase 1 before the latest cut-off date on 7 November 2018. SMEs from 41 countries submitted proposals. Stay tuned – results will come out in December 2018.

16 EIC pilot funded companies compete at European Venture Contest Final

After a thorough application process, 16 companies funded by the EIC pilot and working on disruptive solutions in Healthtech or Digital Technologies have been selected to present their innovations online on 15 November in front of a expert jury. The best companies in each of the two online sessions - 8 companies will pitch at each session - secure a spot at the European Venture Contest Final, on 10-11 December, in Düsseldorf.
