Following the establishment of the first eight EDMO Hubs under the EU Digital Europe Programme, a new call is open until 22 February. The Hubs will be part of a European multidisciplinary community that will detect, analyse and expose disinformation in Europe as well as provide knowledge of local information environments. On 15 December, EDMO held an information session on the call.

EDMO has a new Programme Director

Lauri Tierala joined EDMO at the School of Transnational Governance in January as Programme Director. His new role will be crucial for the next stage of development of EDMO. The EDMO network welcomes him.

Policy Research and Analysis

EDMO’s latest reports touch upon a wide range of topics such as trustworthiness of online sources, assessing the Code of Practice Signatories’ Covid-19 Reports or case law for policy making on disinformation.

EDMO’s Workshop on Media Exemption in the DSA

On 22 November, EDMO organised a workshop to discuss the amendments to the Digital Services Act (DSA) put forward by the CULT and JURI Committees of the European Parliament and different positions towards it. Watch the recordings and find more information following the link below.

Fact-checking Briefs and Collaborative Analyses

Thanks to the joint efforts of its fact-checking community, EDMO has published five collaborative investigations and eight monthly fact-checking briefs. Check out the latest article on common patterns from the fact-checking briefs.

The Network to Promote Media Literacy

EDMO is seeking to become a vital resource for the media literacy community in Europe, providing expertise, ideas and opportunities for connection to empower media literacy practitioners in the fight against disinformation. Check out our media literacy plans.

EDMO Fact-checking Training

On 1-2 December EDMO launched a new training module on ‘’Advanced fact-checking techniques and tools” providing fact-checkers from across Europe with insights on the latest tools and techniques in automated fact-checking.

At the 16th Annual Internet Governance Forum

The 2021 Internet Governance Forum, held between 6-10 December 2021, offered a great opportunity for EDMO to present its multi-stakeholder approach to tackling online disinformation. The panel generated strong interest for cooperation from many stakeholders worldwide.

European Media and Information Fund calls

The first four EMIF calls support research, media literacy and fact-checking initiatives on online disinformation.
