Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has been widely used to measure economic welfare and, by extension, progress. Through the years concerns have been raised with measuring economic success via this single indicator and researchers have been developing new complementary indicators and metrics to more accurately assess the quality of growth. However, there is a lack of consensus on how to achieve this.

We invite you to join the Twitter Space with Alessio Terzi and Christina Kattami, Economic Analysts at DG ECFIN, for a conversation on What is economic growth? What is GDP and why it matters? on 23 November at 12:15 CET.

And if you would like to join the debate on how GDP can be complemented by more inclusive indicators, follow the Policy Dialogue on Measuring what matters: looking beyond GDP with Commissioner for Economy Paolo Gentiloni and youth representatives on 30 November at 15:30 CET.
