INTRODUCTION
January 2023

Dear Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps national agencies,

We wish you and your mobility participants the best for 2023! We thank you for helping the new OLS attract more than 78 000 participants since it opened in July 2022.

This being the European Year of Skills, we continue to improve OLS, encouraging mobility participants to learn new languages as part of their personal and professional development.

For example, users who took an OLS language assessment can now download a certificate to confirm their language level. We are also personalising the learning content according to participants’ backgrounds and interests (see News and upcoming features section below).

To encourage mobility participants to learn a new language in 2023, please continue to use the communication materials we provide each month (see “toolbox” below).

Regards,

The OLS team

COMMUNITY MANAGERS & FORUMS

All OLS language communities now have forums where participants can help each other in their language learning. All forums have been active as of December 2022.

The community managers are well travelled, multilingual and passionate about languages, cultures, traditions and history. Their task is to stimulate discussions, add new resources such as language facts or practical tips for living and commuting in a country, reply to participants' queries, and help them use the platform and exchange language and cultural tips.

Please encourage participants to engage with them, to accelerate their learning.

COMMUNICATION TOOLBOX

Help us keep mobility participants aware of new features and developments on the platform, by downloading January’s communications’ materials below (toolbox). Prepared by the OLS team, it contains posts and visuals to share on your social media networks, and an email to send to participants. Make use of both to reach as many participants as possible.

Please note that to download the toolbox with its communication materials, you must first login on the EU Academy and then enrol in this course.

TIPS

Along with the ability to ask for help from community managers in the language forums, participants can also consult:

A helpful feature of the search box (which asks “What would you like to learn today?”) is a drop-down menu that appears when a user types in a language. They can then quickly navigate to the placement test, language courses and forum for that language.

For any other questions related to the programme, please contact us via the dedicated Teams channel for national agencies.
