INTRODUCTION
December 2022

Dear Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps national agencies,

First of all, a big thank you for your continued support of the OLS learning community. With your help we are making it easier for mobility participants to learn, study and/or volunteer throughout the EU by introducing them to the language of their host countries.

Since its launch in July 2022, the new OLS has already attracted more than 65 000 participants. The language assessment has been taken almost 150 000 times, a further indication of its usefulness for participants.

A multilingual EU is fast becoming a reality, and young Europeans are clearly motivated to learn more about their neighbours. This is evident in the fact that members of the five most active language community forums (English, Spanish, Italian, French and German) are on average at the B2 level – rating them as independent users.

We hope you continue making use of these resources.

Regards,

The OLS team

NEW FEATURES AND CONTENT

The OLS forums are great places for the Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps mobility participants to connect with each other and discuss their language learning experiences. There are already 12 communities with their respective forums and community managers. At the beginning of 2023, this number is expected to more than double!

OLS language assessments are also available for 29 languages. They serve as a good starting point to improve one’s language skills. Each language assessment has 55 questions that allow users to evaluate their current comprehension and listening skills. These take between 10 minutes to an hour to complete, depending on the user’s level.

COMMUNICATION TOOLBOX

To motivate more mobility participants to make progress on their language learning journey, we need your help to promote new features and developments on OLS. You can do so by downloading the toolbox at the link below. It contains posts and visuals to share on your social media networks, and an email to send to participants. You can make use of both to reach as many participants as possible. Thanks!
