The lead theme of this year’s Monitor is inequality in education and the important role that education plays in building a fairer society.
The prime new data source is the 2015 PISA test of 15-year-old pupils, covering all EU countries for the first time. PISA, with its rich information about the background of the tested pupils, offers unique insights into the effects that socioeconomic background, a migrant background and gender have on attaining EU targets on achievement in reading, maths and science.
