MSCA Doctoral Networks provide support to partnerships of organisations from different socio-economic sectors across Europe and beyond to implement doctoral programmes. The aim is to train highly skilled doctoral candidates, stimulate their creativity, enhance their innovation capacities and boost their employability in the long-term. This call will fund over 130 projects in all scientific fields and the training and skills development of 1600 doctoral candidates.

The Commission will fund 73 projects selected under the 2022 call for MSCA Staff Exchanges, with a budget of €77.5 million. Selected consortia will promote cooperation between academic and non-academic organisations in the EU and around the globe to boost innovation and knowledge transfer. Through Staff Exchanges, organisations can form international partnerships with other leading organisations, strengthen long-term collaborations and increase their capacities.

EIC Transition funds innovation activities that go beyond the experimental proof of principle in laboratory. In 2023, the “EIC Transition Challenges” call is open for the first time to proposals building on results from Horizon 2020 or Horizon Europe funded projects, including MSCA projects. With a budget of €60.5 million, this call will support projects in the fields of full scale Micro-Nano-Bio devices for medical and medical research applications, environmental intelligence and chip-scale optical frequency comb.

The European Commission has published a new call to develop a suitable structure for a fellowship scheme for researchers at risk that would address the currently fragmented and limited support at EU level. Within the scope of the action, around 30 fellowships will be awarded for researchers at risk.

The EU Product Safety Award celebrates innovative business initiatives and research that increase the safety of consumers. This year, the award focuses on business initiatives that specifically make a difference for teenagers. For the first time, the initiative will also honour researchers working on consumer product safety. Companies and researchers have 3 months to apply to get the recognition for their work.

Following a very well received joint pilot matchmaking event in 2022, the MSCA and the Joint Research Centre (JRC) are organising the second edition of the Science-policy matchmaking event, which will take place on 20 June 2023. The event will bring researchers and policymakers together to discuss the opportunities that the MSCA provide for researchers to spend a short secondment or placement at a public administration body.

The Science-Policy pitch competition under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) is now open for applications. Through 3-minute pitches, MSCA fellows and alumni will explain how their research contributes to bringing science and policy-making closer. The European Commission is looking for 15 excellent communicators from all disciplines, with exciting research topics, new ideas and discoveries linking science to policy making.

The second edition of the Education and Innovation Summit will bring together the main players in education and innovation. The Summit’s topics will focus on the development of talent and future-proof skills in line with the priorities of the European Year of Skills.
