Support for researchers from Ukraine
Commission launches MSCA4Ukraine to support displaced scientists from Ukraine

With a total budget of €25 million, MSCA4Ukraine will provide fellowships for doctoral candidates and post-doctoral researchers. The scheme will allow scientists to continue their work in academic or non-academic organisations in EU member states and countries associated to Horizon Europe, and re-establish themselves in Ukraine to rebuild the country’s research and innovation capacity when conditions allow.

Horizon for Ukraine: post and find opportunities for researchers from Ukraine in EU-funded projects

Displaced researchers or other specialists from Ukraine can search for opportunities to become involved in ongoing EU-funded research & innovation projects through Horizon for Ukraine. MSCA-funded projects can post and announce their opportunities in the portal.

MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships 2022 call

MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships support researchers’ careers and foster excellence in research. The action targets researchers holding a PhD who wish to carry out their research activities abroad, acquire new skills and develop their careers. Funded researchers gain experience in other countries, disciplines and non-academic sectors. The current call will award €257 million and close on 14 September 2022.

MSCA Doctoral Networks 2022 call

These applicants presented outstanding proposals but fell short of receiving funding from the scheme. MSCA fellows to take part in the next Lindau Novel Laureate meetings

33 outstanding MSCA fellows will participate in the 71st Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting (Germany, 26 June - 1 July 2022). This meeting is dedicated to Chemistry and will bring together 600 young scientists and around 35 Nobel Laureates. Also 8 excellent MSCA fellows will participate in the 7th Lindau Meeting on Economic Sciences (23-27 August 2022) with the participation of 500 young scientists and around 20 Nobel Laureates.

New insights into the success and failure of competitive MSCA research proposals

A recent study used machine learning and qualitative text analysis to investigate the evaluation of grant proposals, thereby generating new insights into grant peer reviewing. It discovered that the content of review reports matched predefined evaluation criteria. This observation suggests that the European Commission briefs its independent expert evaluators with great coherence.

Acknowledging EU funding: new rules under Horizon Europe

Acknowledging EU funding is a legal obligation for all beneficiaries under Horizon Europe and Horizon 2020. All communication and dissemination activities must display the EU emblem and EU funding statement, including publications, presentations in traditional form or on websites and social media, but also infrastructure, equipment and any major results funded by the grant.
