More procurement and tender opportunities with the HAPPI online platform

<p> Next year, six European healthcare central purchasing organisations from France, UK, Italy, Belgium, Luxembourg and Austria will launch a joint call for tender to attribute one or several markets to the best innovative products and services. The EU funded HAPPI project&nbsp;has offered&nbsp;help at a series of info days, the last one is on 2 December in Vienna.</p>

EU Citizenship: Commission proposes 12 new actions to boost citizens' rights

The European Commission has today unveiled a new push to reinforce EU citizens’ rights with a series of actions to tackle obstacles that citizens still face in their everyday life. The 2013 EU Citizenship Report sets out 12 concrete ways to help Europeans make better use of their EU rights, from looking for a job in another EU country to ensuring stronger participation in the democratic life of the Union. Key proposals include making it easier for people to work and do training in another EU country; reducing excessive paperwork for EU citizens living and travelling in the EU; and eliminating barriers to cross-border shopping. During the European Year of Citizens the EU Citizenship Report is the Commission's answer to the numerous calls from EU citizens who have shared problems they have experienced when travelling, moving to or shopping in another EU country.

ICT 2013 Student ICT research project competition

Individual students or small groups (max 5) can submit ICT research projects to showcase at the ICT 2013 event in Vilnius. The projects can be submited in 8 categories, which reflect the orientations of the ICT research in the next European research framework programme, Horizon 2020. Deadline Wednesday 5th June 2013, 16:00 CET.

 
Consultation on directions for ICT-driven public sector innovation in the EU

The European Commission launched today an online public consultation on research and innovation in ICT-driven public sector innovation. The answers will help to prepare Horizon 2020 forthcoming Work Programmes. All the interested stakeholders: national administrations, businesses, researchers, innovators, academia and interested users can provide their ideas on research and innovation activities at the EU level. The consultation will be open until 15 April 2013.

European Commission launches Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs

Commission President José Manuel Barroso today called on Europe's digital businesses, governments, training and education sectors to join a Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs to address up to 900 000 job vacancies expected to exist in Europe in Information and Communication technologies (ICT) by 2015. Despite the current levels of unemployment, the number of digital jobs is growing by more than 100 000 per year. Yet the number of fresh ICT graduates and skilled ICT workers is not keeping up.

 
CAF - new advisory forum

As part of the preparation for Horizon 2020 DG CONNECT has set up a new advisory structure – CONNECT Advisory Forum for ICT Research and Innovation (CAF). The CAF is expected to become the essential platform helping the Commission, and more specifically - DG CONNECT, to bring closer to the potential users the ICT research and innovation.
