Commission approves public funding to promote shift of freight from road to rail in Bolzano region, Italy
|
The European Commission has approved under EU State aid rules an Italian scheme to support the shift of freight traffic from road to rail in the Province of Bolzano. The measure will further EU environmental and transport objectives, whilst maintaining competition in the Single Market.

International Skating Union's restrictive penalties on athletes breach EU competition rules
|
The European Commission has decided that International Skating Union (ISU) rules imposing severe penalties on athletes participating in speed skating competitions that are not authorised by the ISU are in breach of EU antitrust law. The ISU must now change these rules.

Case C‑230/16 (Preliminary ruling) - Coty vs. Parfümerie Akzente
|
The Commission welcomes today's preliminary ruling of the European Court of Justice concerning Coty Germany. The judgment provides more clarity and legal certainty to market participants that had been facing diverging views on the legality of their distribution practices. The judgment will also facilitate a uniform application of competition rules across the EU. Specifically, the Court confirmed the possibility for the luxury industry to operate certain selective distribution systems without infringing EU competition rules.
