European Blue Forum Annual Meeting

From Position to Practice!

____________________________________________________________

The stakeholder position papers are now published!

After a successful inaugural event in May 2023 back-to-back with European Maritime Day 2023, the European Blue Forum engaged in a year of thematic activities, exploring perspectives on "What do we need from European Seas by 2030 – are we asking too much?" and "What does a fossil fuel-free blue economy look like – how can we support this transition?"

Now, we're excited to announce the publication of European Blue Forum Stakeholders Position Papers. These papers are not only the result of months of collaborative effort by European Blue Forum members, but also a call for change for our sustainable blue economy. They encapsulate the voices and aspirations of our members, providing concrete proposals to drive positive changes in our seas. As communicated by DG MARE, ‘the position papers will be used to shape the forthcoming public blue policies, and at the same time, we will strengthen coordination by engaging with all the Commission’s Directorates-General, ensuring that the diverse outputs and recommendations generated within the forum resonate with other EU policies.’

The papers were presented during the final meeting of the interparliamentary group SEARICA in Brussels on 7th March 2024.

The papers are now accessible through the website.

Save the date and join us at the 2nd European Blue Forum Annual Meeting - From Position to Practice.

To those who share our passion for the future of European Seas, we are thrilled to invite you to join us as we continue the journey toward a more sustainable and vibrant blue economy. This year's theme is all about action – turning ideas into impactful practices, to identify innovative solutions to deliver bold and ambitious changes for a brighter, more sustainable future.

To ensure we focus our meeting on the topics that participants most want, we have compiled insights gathered from members’ discussions and the activities organised over the past ten months, particularly the development of the Stakeholder Position Papers, to identify the key topics which emerged. We have prepared a brief survey and ask that respondents prioritise the technical topics from their own perspective. To complete the survey, click here.

Your input to this survey will help shape the agenda of the upcoming European Blue Forum Annual Meeting - From Position to Practice in Svendborg, Denmark, on May 30, 2024, as part of European Maritime Day, and ultimately the Work Plan for the European Blue Forum over the coming 18 months.

What to expect from our Annual Meeting
