The new LIFE Clean Energy Transition Call for Proposals 2023 has EUR 99M available to support your projects with a 95% co-funding rate. Submit your project idea in any of the 13 dedicated funding topics by 16 November 2023.

Targeted communities for this call for tenders include islands, ports and fisheries communities. In the context of the call for expressions of interest, ports are intended to implement measures, including carbon-neutrality and circularity, incorporating renewable energy. The European Commission has published the Terms and Conditions for the pilot auction dedicated to European renewable hydrogen production. It is an important step towards scaling up the production of renewable hydrogen in the EU, and achieving EU Green Deal goals. The auction, funded by the Innovation Fund, is intended to open in November 2023.

EU Waterborne Days will take place in Brussels on 26-27 September 2023, and will feature a number of CINEA projects. The event will focus on the main trends in waterborne research and innovation, and include workshops on topics such as electrification, sustainable alternative fuels and energy efficiency.

The European Week of Regions and Cities is taking place on 9-12 October in Brussels. CINEA will be present at the event with a corporate stand at the exhibition and three sessions focusing on CEF Energy, Green Assist and urban mobility.

The annual conference gathers cities, industries and financial institutions to exchange good practices and successful solutions to common challenges at local level. Pyxis Ocean is on her maiden voyage to Brazil – not only making waves but also news across the world including on the BBC! The vessel is testing groundbreaking technology developed under the Horizon 2020 CHEK project, bringing cutting edge wind propulsion to commercial shipping for the first time.

Prototypes of a cylinder that can economically transport CNG (compressed natural gas), developed under the Horizon 2020 project GASVESSEL, are already in production. Using an innovative production process and a new type of carbon fibre that can operate at high pressure, the breakthrough was featured in Italy’s leading financial newspaper, "Il Sole 24 Ore" (article in Italian).

The AquaWind project is developing an innovative prototype consisting of a floating platform combining a wind turbine and aquaculture facilities. The project, funded by the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) will address multiple challenges, from food scarcity to climate change.
