The European Sustainable Energy Week will take place from 20 to 22 June in a hybrid format. The ongoing call to organise a session and is open to public authorities, energy agencies, industry associations, businesses, civil society organisations, the media, etc. The format of the sessions is up to you (presentation, workshop, panel discussion, etc.) – a creative approach is encouraged! Deadline to apply: 1 February.

On 9 February 2023, CINEA will organise the second Info Day of the public sector loan facility of the Just Transition Mechanism in collaboration with the Directorate General for Regional and Urban Policy of the European Commission (DG REGIO) and the European Investment Bank (EIB). The Info Day will outline the main features of the facility and will explain in further detail how to receive the available financing.

The 2023 Road Transport Research (RTR) results conference will take place in Brussels on 14-16 February. Many EU-funded projects will present their results in road transport research, including clean energy innovations, on topics such as next-generation e-vehicles, batteries, automated mobility and more.

In Stavanger, Norway’s “capital of oil”, ferry services are saying goodbye to fossil fuels. The city is home to the demonstrator vessel of the TrAM project, Medstraum – the world’s first 100% electric high-speed ferry and recently featured in a Euronews documentary on sustainable shipping.

Waste heat is a common challenge in industries requiring high temperatures. With the help of heat exchangers, waste heat can be recovered and channeled to other processes within the same facility. The ETEKINA project developed and tested a new type of heat-pipe-heat-exchanger (HPHE) for energy-intensive industries.

The EU-funded project SEAWING4BLUE is developing a large wing structure capturing wind more stably for the propulsion of vessels. The main advantages are its independence from fossil fuels, the use of an unlimited renewable energy source and the possibility to retrofit existing ships.

The main goal of the EU-funded project Aspiring wingsails is to develop, test and validate the novel Wind Assisted Propulsion System for fishing vessels developed by bound4blue. With the new improved sail, the initial fuel savings will be more than doubled. The solution will also be suitable for merchant and passenger ships.
