CEF Energy: over EUR 600 million of grants for 8 projects to develop cross-border energy infrastructure

In the context of the European Green Deal and REPowerEU, EU Member States have given the green light to a Commission proposal to invest EUR 602 million under CEF Energy in cross-border energy infrastructure projects that contribute to the development of the TEN-E networks.

EU countries to receive more than EUR 380 million for nature, environment, climate action and clean energy transition projects

The European Commission has approved an investment package of more than EUR 380 million for 168 new projects under the LIFE Programme. This is a 27% increase on last year's amount.

Moldova joins the LIFE Programme

Moldova is the third non-EU country to join the LIFE programme after Iceland and Ukraine. By joining the programme, Moldova can benefit from LIFE’s support for mobilising public and private resources for climate action, biodiversity protection, circular economy and clean energy transition.

Steelanol H2020 Energy project inauguration on 8 December

The EU-funded Steelanol project, first of its kind installation in the European steel industry, will help reduce CO2 emissions in the ArcelorMittal steel plant in Ghent, by using biocatalysts to transform waste gases from carbon-rich blast furnace and from waste biomass into ethanol.

The GREENing the BLUE project brought to commercial readiness a tilting patented wingsail solution for merchant ships. Such a solution can reduce fuel use and related pollutant emissions from maritime transport up to 30%.

The Celtic Interconnector has reached a new milestone: Ireland and France signed the contract to keep working on the underwater electricity connection linking the two countries, meaning that the construction phase can start in 2023.
