The third call for large-scale projects under the EU Innovation Fund is open for application until 16 March 2023. With an increased budget of EUR 3 billion, the call will boost the deployment of industrial solutions to decarbonise Europe and accelerate Europe's energy independence from Russian fossil fuels.

On 8 November, CINEA launched the first call for Works and Studies for cross-border renewable energy projects. Applications are open until 23 February 2023.

The Commission has opened a call for applications for energy infrastructure projects under the new Trans-European Network for Energy (TEN-E) Regulation. Running until 15 December, the call covers all energy infrastructure categories, including candidates for Projects of Common Interest (PCIs) and the new Projects of Mutual Interest (PMIs).

The Commission Delegated Regulation establishing the first list of selected cross-border projects in the field of renewable energy entered into force on 17 November. This represents a milestone for the sector as it gives the opportunity to the selected projects to apply for funding for works & studies under the RES window of CEF Energy.

The European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) is looking for talent to contribute to the success of its main programmes. Overall 18 topics with a total budget of EUR 98M were open in areas such as improving building energy performance, supporting public authorities in the clean energy transition, building skills and capacity in industry, mainstreaming innovative financing solutions and mobilising investment projects, etc. Selected projects will benefit from a 95% co-funding rate and those LIFE Clean Energy Transition projects are expected to go live in summer 2023.

The European Commission adopted in October the 'Digitalisating the energy system - EU action plan', a system-wide digitalisation energy action plan that aims to contribute to the EU energy policy objectives by supporting the development of a sustainable, (cyber)secure, transparent and competitive market for digital energy services, ensuring data privacy and sovereignty, and supporting investment in digital energy infrastructure.

The European Commission launched GREEN ASSIST on 9 November at Ecomondo. Funded with EUR 30 million from the LIFE programme, the new advisory initiative helps beneficiaries to green their investments and/or projects across diversified sectors, for instance by integrating nature-based solutions or circular economy principles.

The 2022 edition of the Covenant of Mayors Investment Forum – Energy Efficiency Finance Market Place took place on 18 October and attracted over 400 participants, with more than 250 attendees joining the event onsite in Brussels.

On 29-30 November 2022, CINEA and DG Climate Action will hold various virtual information sessions to guide potential applicants through the new Innovation Fund third large-scale call and present the new topics under the call.

Under the theme 'Accelerating the clean energy transition – towards lower bills and greater skills', the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) 2023 will take place in Brussels and online on 20-22 June 2023. The infosession on 29 November will go through all major calls and deadlines and inform on how organisations can get involved.

The Info Days for Horizon Europe Cluster 5 - Climate, Energy & Mobility - will now be held fully virtually instead of hybrid on 15-16 December 2022.
