Commission unveils REPowerEU Plan to rapidly reduce dependence on Russian fossil fuels and fast forward the green transition

The European Commission has presented this week the REPowerEU Plan, its response to the hardships and global energy market disruption caused by Russia's invasion of Ukraine. A €800 million call has also been launched for clean energy infrastructure projects under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) for Energy.

Launch of EPREL database to help consumers on energy efficient products

A new EU-wide public database enabling consumers to compare the energy efficiency class and other data about different household products has been recently launched by the European Commission. With detailed information on well over 1 million products, the European Product Registry for Energy Labelling (EPREL) breaks new ground in helping EU consumers become more energy efficient.

Horizon Europe: EUR 283 million of funding available for Energy and Mobility R&I projects

The European Commission has launched new calls for projects under Horizon Europe's Work Programme for 2021-2022 with a deadline of 6 September 2022. The projects will be selected for funding in a single-stage evaluation.

The Commission has just launched the “Women in the Blue Economy” call for proposals with EUR 2.5 million budget. The aim is to increase the participation of women in the different sectors of the blue economy and contribute to a more gender equal society.

Country-specific financing mechanisms for viable energy efficiency investments

The diversity of obstacles that prevent the financing of energy efficiency projects across Europe calls for a country-specific approach. The E-FIX project has devised a set of solutions that are already projected to help save a total of 54 GWh of energy per year across six countries in central and eastern Europe and in the Caucasus region.

FreShER - Innovative mooring solutions for floating solar energy

Floating solar photovoltaic (FPV) installations open up new opportunities for scaling up solar energy generating capacity. The FreShER project aims to demonstrate an innovative mooring solution in a full-scale FPV park, which is 50% more cost efficient than standard solutions.

A powerful collaboration to standardise the value of non-energy benefits in energy efficiency investment decisions

The EU-funded project M-Benefits has joined efforts with the European Standardisation Body to start the process for the development of a new EU standard enabling companies and organisations to identify, quantify, monetize, report and communicate the non-energy benefits of energy efficiency investments.
