Higlights

  • EU cow’s milk collection increased by +3% in Feb. 2024 and +1.1% in Jan.-Feb. 2024;
  • Member States with the highest increases in Jan.-Feb. 2024 (leap year adjusted): LT (+5.3%), CY (+4.7%), AT (+3.6%) and PL (+3.2%);
  • Highest decreases: IE (-16.7%), BG (-4.9%) and EL (-4.7%);
  • In Feb 2024, milk production increased by +8.7% in AU, +5.5% in NZ, +2.2% in the US and +2.9% in the UK;
  • Evolution of EU dairy production in Jan-Feb 2024/2023: butter (-4.4%), and SMP (-4.5%); WMP (+7.6%), cheese (+5.6%), fermented milk (+6.2%), drinking milk (+1.8%), cream (+8%);
  • 3.7% of total raw milk collected in Feb 2024 was organic.

The milk market observatory is celebrating its 10th anniversary. It was the first ever observatory for agricultural markets and since then, this successful format has been replicated for the sectors of meat, sugar, crops, fruit and vegetables and wine.
