Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations participated today in the ‘Fifth meeting of the Accession Conference with Montenegro’ at Ministerial level.
La douzième session du Conseil d'Association UE - Maroc s'est tenue à Bruxelles le 16 décembre. Cette réunion ministérielle confirme la dynamique positive des relations bilatérales. Le Maroc est un partenaire important pour l’UE qui joue un rôle-clé au sein de l’espace Euro-méditerranéen et du Partenariat Afrique-UE. L'UE souhaite continuer à développer avec le Maroc une relation bilatérale forte, fondée sur des valeurs communes, le respect réciproque et la solidarité.
The European Commission has adopted today the Indicative Strategy Paper for Bosnia and Herzegovina. The strategy sets out the priorities for EU financial assistance for the period 2014 - 2017 to support the country on its path to EU integration. The EU plans to support sectoral reforms with an amount of EUR 165.8million in the sectors Democracy and governance, Rule of law and fundamental rights, Competitiveness and innovation: local development strategies and Education, employment and social policies.
The European Commission and Italy have signed today the constitutive agreement to launch the first ever EU Regional Trust Fund as a new strategic financing tool to mobilise more aid in response to the Syrian Crisis. The start-up funding provided amounts to 20 million from the EU budget and 3 million from Italy as the first founding donor. Additional funding is foreseen for 2015. The EU Trust Fund will initially focus on support to refugees and host communities in Syria's neighbouring countries.
The European Parliament, the European Commission and the Italian Presidency of the Council of the EU, organisers of this conference, recalling the international human rights standards set forth in, among others, the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, the European Convention on Human Rights and the United Nations human rights instruments:
Bruxelles, (10 Décembre) - M Johannes HAHN, Commissaire responsable de la Politique Européenne de Voisinage et des négociations de l'élargissement, a choisi le Maroc pour sa toute première visite au Sud de la Méditerranée : « cette visite est un signal de la reconnaissance de l’UE du rôle pionnier joué par le Maroc dans la Politique de Voisinage » a précisé le Commissaire. M. Johannes HAHN rencontrera au cours de sa mission les 11 et 12 décembre plusieurs responsables gouvernementaux, auxquels il exprimera la volonté de l'Union européenne de préserver la dynamique du partenariat entre l'UE et le Maroc.
With growing numbers of refugees from Syria seeking sanctuary in Turkey, the European Commission is stepping up its assistance with an additional €10 million in humanitarian funding both inside Turkey and inside Syria via cross-border assistance from Turkey. The funding was announced as EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini and the Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides visited a camp for Syrian refugees in the border town of Kilis, south-central Turkey, and attended a distribution of EU-funded aid for refugees.

High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini, together with Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn and Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides, will pay an official visit to Turkey on 8 and 9 December.
Thank you very much. It is a pleasure to be here together with Commissioner Hahn. We came to Sarajevo for our first joint visit – not the last one, the next joint visit is in a couple of days. So, this is telling you something about the new way in which the new Commission started to work: hand in hand, close cooperation and coordinated approach.
