Neighbourhood and Enlargement Commissioner Olivér Várhelyi is participating today in the Tirana Summit with the Western Balkans leaders. They are discussing the implementation of the Economic and Investment Plan, put forward for the region by the Commission last autumn, as well as looking ahead at the Berlin Process Summit with the Western Balkans on 5 July.

The final judgement in the case of Ratko Mladić by the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT) brings to an end a key trial in Europe’s recent history for war crimes, including genocide, which took place in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Visiting Brussels on 4 June 2021, His Excellency Mr Kais Saied, the President of the Republic of Tunisia, held talks with His Excellency Mr Charles Michel, the President of the European Council, Her Excellency Ms Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission and His Excellency Mr David Maria Sassoli, the President of the European Parliament. 

Today, the European Commission announced an Economic Recovery Plan for the Republic of Moldova, which will mobilise up to €600 million in macro-financial assistance, grants and investments, supported by blending and financial guarantees. This new funding will be mobilised over the next three years to promote investment that underpin a sustainable and inclusive recovery from the COVID-19 crisis in the country.
