Privacy Statement

1. The Specific electronic Service: European Web Site on Integration

The objective of this electronic service, jointly operated by the DG Home Affairs and the DG for Information Society and Media, is to provide integration professionals in Europe with an EU-wide platform for networking on integration, through exchange about policies and practices. In particular, the European Web Site on Integration is:

  • a documentation facility;
  • an on-line data collection tool for best practices;
  • a platform for the direct exchange of information between stakeholders

While registering, your personal data will be collected and further processed for the purpose detailed above. This e-Service is under the responsibility of DG for Communication, acting as the Controller. However, the day-to-day responsibility lies with the management team.
As this e-Service collects and further processes personal data, Regulation (EU) 2018/1725 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 October 2018 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data by the Union institutions, bodies, offices and agencies and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Regulation (EC) No 45/2001 and Decision No 1247/2002/EC, is applicable.

2. What personal information do we collect, for what purpose and through which technical means?

The following personal data are collected: name and surname, e-mail address, organisation name, phone number, fax, postal address, country of residence, type of contribution and your contribution history. Only the first four data elements are mandatory for registration.

3. Who has access to your information and to whom is it disclosed?

Your information is accessible by the European Web Site on Integration Team, on behalf of DG Home Affairs and the DG for Information Society and Media. No personal data will be published without your permission.

4. What is the legal basis for this e-service?

This e-service is developed because the Hague Programme on strengthening freedom, security and justice in European Union (more information), adopted by the European Council in November 2004, called explicitly for the development of a widely accessible internet website on integration. In the same month, the Groningen Ministerial Conference on Integration invited the European Commission, in close cooperation with the National Contact Points on Integration (more information), to establish a public-private partnership (more information) to develop and maintain the website.
 The European Commission will not share data with third parties for direct marketing.

5. How do we protect and safeguard your information?

All the information is recorded in a database hosted by the authorised organisation or at the Data Centre of the European Commission. The database can be accessed only by authorised users using a User Id/Password. Access to the application is via a non-encrypted connection using the normal http protocol. Users may choose the privacy levels of their personal profiles and contributions; that is, whether only administrators or the general public can see each item submitted.

6. How can you verify, modify or delete your information?

You can modify/delete your personal profile with your User Id/Password in the My Password and the My data section of the portal.

7. How long do we keep your data?

Your personal data will remain in the database until the end of the project or until you decide to delete them.

8. Contact Information

Should you have questions or requests, please contact the portal Webmaster.

9. Recourse

Complaints, in the event of conflict, should be addressed to the European Data Protection Supervisor.
