On Sunday 28 November 2021, 30 Czech families and 30 migrant families will meet each other in the Czech Republic. Individual meetings will each take the form of a shared lunch between a Czech family and a migrant family, in the home of the host family (Czech or migrant), and under the guidance of an assistant. The initiative is organised by the Slovo21 Association.
Before the meeting, the assistant will make personal contact with participants and share useful information. Registered families are paired according to certain criteria (such as age, profession, occupation, interests, number and age of children). This ensures that there will be topics of mutual interest for conversation, and a friendly atmosphere. The assistant will mediate communication and supervise the course of the meeting and, if necessary, break the ice at the beginning.
The project, which was set up in 2004 and has already received the prestigious Austrian SozialMarie 2011 award, has proven to be an effective and unusual tool for the integration of foreigners, not only in the Czech Republic but also abroad.
Families can find further information and sign up for participation in this year's project on the association's website.
