  • The European Commission (EC) is implementing a number of concrete actions to support EU countries in welcoming and meeting the needs of those fleeing the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Find further details on these actions in this EC communication.

  • The EC also launched the Ukraine solidarity platform to share both practical information for those fleeing Ukraine and guidance for people living in Europe on how to help. This is part of a 10-point plan that aims to ensure stronger European coordination on welcoming new arrivals from Ukraine.

  • EWSI provides an overview of the measures and initiatives taken by EU institutions, national governments, civil society and other stakeholders to promote the early integration needs of those fleeing Ukraine here.

  • Consultations for the topics of the 7th European Migration Forum (EMF) have now started, including an online survey and a virtual meeting on 21 April. In light of the 2022 European Year of Youth, discussions will focus on youth-related topics and youth organisations are invited to actively engage. The initiative, coordinated by the European Anti-Poverty Network Portugal and the High Commission for Migration, comprises 260 activities across the country that aim to fight social exclusion and promote dialogue through intercultural exchange.

EU invokes Temporary Protection Directive to help those fleeing Ukraine

The European Commission (EC) has invoked the Temporary Protection Directive in order to offer quick and effective assistance in European countries to people fleeing the Russian invasion of Ukraine. 

The EU Skills Profile Tool is now available in Ukrainian

The European Commission (EC) released a Ukrainian version of the EU Skills Profile Tool for Third-Country Nationals. This will make it easier for displaced people coming from Ukraine to showcase their skills and access jobs and other opportunities in the EU. 

EU cohesion funding to provide emergency and integration support to those fleeing Ukraine

The EC adopted the Cohesion Action for Refugees in Europe (CARE) legislative proposal, which provides additional flexibility to cohesion policy funding in order to maximise the speed and ease with which EU countries can help newly arrived refugees from Ukraine.

European Committee of the Regions launches Ukraine solidarity website

The European Committee of the Regions (CoR) has launched a new site to share news and information on events and initiatives relating to the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Active Citizens Fund Bulgaria calls for proposals in response to the invasion of Ukraine

The Active Citizens Fund Bulgaria launched an emergency call for project proposals from civil society organisations in response to the challenges posed by Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the related displacement of millions of people.

Czech Republic: Extraordinary grants procedure for integration services

This new grants procedure aims to strengthen the provision of integration services for special visa and temporary protection holders in the Czech Republic, in particular those who are refugees fleeing the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

New funding opportunities for integration projects in the Nordic Region

The Nordic Welfare Centre announced new available funding for integration projects in the Nordic region. One of the key objectives of this funding period is to bring together bodies and actors in the Nordic region that work with integration, including ministries, agencies, authorities, regions, municipalities, practitioners, experts and civil society organisations.

Sweden: AMIF call for proposals 2022

The Swedish Migration Agency announced three AMIF funding calls for project proposals, open until 26 April. Eligible projects include those operating in the areas of ​​asylum, integration and return.

Skills for Employment

This initiative, run by IKEA Bratislava in conjunction with Human Rights League, helps refugees gain new skills and work experience at the same time as supporting them to integrate into their host community.

Promoting difference, reinforcing the community

This project creates job opportunities for asylum seekers and refugees in the agricultural sector in Italy, taking into account the needs and interests of key local stakeholders (such as farmers, municipalities, and social cooperatives). It promotes a model of development that creates new opportunities for social inclusion.

Hope solidarity fund

Created by a network of local associations active in the first-line reception system in Italy, the “Hope” solidarity fund promoted the autonomy and integration of asylum seekers by providing opportunities for their economic and professional inclusion.

IOM: Feedback from HELIOS programme beneficiaries

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) updated the results of surveys conducted monthly among the beneficiaries of HELIOS, its integration programme in Greece. Information is now available for the period up to September 2021.
