Portugal: Applications open for the Diversity Seal for Employers
Organisers of Portugal's first National Forum for Diversity have announced the launch of a new Diversity Seal dedicated to employers during the event held on 22 May 2017. Organisations recognising, respecting and valuing cultural, ethnic and social diversity in the workplace will be awarded during a ceremony taking place on 10 November 2017.
Applicant institutions must be signatory of the Portuguese Charter for Diversity launched in March 2016 and fill in the online participation form with detailed information on the candidate practice (goals, implementation, sustainability, management, resources needed, target population, etc.) by 22 July 2017. Practices will be evaluated in six categories:
- Commitment from top management
- Organisational culture
- Recruitment and people management
- Career development
- Communication of the Charter and its principles
- Working conditions and accessibility
In one year the number of signatories of the Portuguese Diversity Charter has nearly tripled from 44 to 128 today. The Charter outlines concrete measures that can be taken to promote diversity and equal opportunities in the workplace, regardless of ethnic and social origin, sexual orientation, gender, age, physical characteristics, personal style and religion.
