Poland: Nationwide collection by Catholic Church to support migrants at Belarusian border

Flag Poland

On 21 November 2021 the Catholic Church in Poland organised a collection of financial donations at all its services across the country, specifically in connection with the migration crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border. The money collected is being donated to aid activities in border areas, as well as to initiatives promoting the long-term integration of refugees who decide to stay in Poland.

The fundraising initiative was organised by the President of the Polish Bishops' Conference, Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki. Support for migrants by the Polish Catholic Church is generally provided through Caritas Poland (the largest Catholic charity organisation in Poland), diocesan Caritas and the Polish Bishops' Conference delegate for immigration. Migrants can receive support at refugee centres, guarded centres for foreigners and in Caritas Poland Tents of Hope, which is a project launched and run by border parishes.

The full text of the appeal for donations can be found online here.
