Italy: Call for papers on the social question of migration - inequalities, diversity, rights

The research centre on Migration in the Mediterannean (MEDI) launched a call for papers for its 5th annual conference which will take place on 28 April 2023.

Relevant topics under this call would include:

  • Immigration policies and territories - inclusion and exclusion;
  • Work - integration, exploitation;
  • Entrepreneurship and social mobility;
  • Migration and gender;
  • Civil society and solidarity with migrants and refugees;
  • Xenophobia and racism;
  • New generations - school, work, social participation;
  • Transnational and reunited families;
  • Immigration and religious pluralism;
  • Refugees, reception measures, post-reception developments;
  • Migration, media and political communication;
  • Migrant networks, associationism and participation;
  • Mobilisation and political activism;
  • Intercultural mediation and social work;
  • Marginality, prison, processes of social exclusion.

Those interested should submit a paper abstract, of no more than 600 words, by 25 February. Papers can be submitted in Italian, English, Spanish and French. Authors will receive a response to their submission by 15 March, and the final papers must then be submitted by 15 April.
