Europe: 3rd meeting of the European Migration Forum - Apply now
The European Migration Forum is the key platform for dialogue between civil society and the European institutions on issues relating to migration, asylum and the integration of third-country nationals. On 2-3 March 2017, it will host its 3rd public Meeting. This edition will focus on ACCESS: Migrants' access to the EU, their rights and available services.
The event will have an interactive, participatory approach and include workshops and discussion islands with practitioners from local and regional authorities, representatives of the Member States and members of the EESC Permanent Group on Immigration and Integration. NGOs wanting to participate in the debate are invite to apply to this call for expressions of interest by 12 December 2016.
In a nutshell, the content of the meeting will include a discussion on safe legal alternatives to the perilous journeys migrants undertake, as well as a reflection on the way migrants can access services upon their arrival, together with the rights to which they are entitled to, and how to ensure continuation of such provisions to facilitate their integration process. Moreover, communication and media will be underlining themes. Discussions will be led around ways to change the current narrative on migration, with a view to explore how public discourse can influence public perceptions on migration and integration of migrants in receiving communities.
